Training & careers (Risto Renkonen Research Group)

Training within this project: five PhD students work within various aspect of this project. They all have a supervisory group to follow the development of their PhD thesis work.

We actively not only participate, but also arrange annually graduate school meetings, the latest of which was held on December 2008 in Haartman Institute on mass spectrometry of glycoproteins with 120 participating graduate students all over Finland, and 10 abroad.

The track record of R. Renkonen shows that he has supervised 12 PhD thesis during years 1993-2008 (9 females, 3 males). As a measurement of the work carried out in Renkonen's laboratory, seven of our PhDs (5 female, 2 male) work currently in various biocompanies, such as Medix Biochemica Oy, Medicel Oy, Mobidiag Oy, Finnish Red Cross Blood Service, and Wallac Oy as well as MSD Italia. The others work in various positions in different hospitals and/or academic institutions.
