Haartman Institute

The Haartman Institute is an institute of clinical-theoretical medicine, one of the five institutes of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Helsinki. Located on Meilahti Campus, the Institute comprises the Departments of Bacteriology and Immunology, Clinical Pharmacology, Clinical Chemistry, Medical Genetics, Pathology and Virology and the Transplantation Laboratory.

All of the above disciplines involve a substantial amount of translational research. The Institute's training is designed mainly for third-year medical students.

The Haartman Institute shares facilities with HUSLAB, a laboratory enterprise owned by the Helsinki and Uusimaa Hospital District (HUS) Joint Municipality Board.
