Aims (Risto Renkonen Research Group)
The major questions we aim to answer here are
1) Why and how the epithelium in healthy subjects, but not allergic patients, is able to induce defensive immune responses against pollen allergens?
2) Why and how does the respiratory epithelium in allergic patients, but not in healthy subjects, uptake and actively transport the allergen via caveola to the tissue mast cells?
3) Could the pollen entry be prevented in allergic patients?
