Undergraduate Program

The basic degrees of the Faculty of Medicine are Licentiate of Medicine (LicMed) and Licentiate of Dentistry (LicDent). After completing the training in general medical practice, the licensed physician is entitled to practice general medicine independently.

The Faculty of Medicine's basic studies aim to produce graduates with the legally required education to practice medicine or dentistry, and to provide them with the ability to make critical judgements as well as acquire and apply scientific knowledge.

Medical and dental students at Haartman study medical and clinical microbiology (bacteriology, immunology, virology), medical genetics, and pathology. Medical education is provided mainly to students in their second to sixth study year.
